Dippie
Trippie
Pippie

Dippie, Trippie, and Pippie

Dippie, Pippie, and Trippie were a set of puppies that ARNI rescued from a high kill shelter in Putnam County. When they got them in, they could tell that they weren’t well. They rushed them to the vet and they were all diagnosed with Parvo. They stayed for a couple nights and the vet gave them treatment and was able to save them. After a few nights they returned to ARNI’s shelter and they got healthy and found their forever homes!

Ruffles

Ruffles

Ruffles is one of the sweetest dogs that ARNI has rescued. They rescued him from euthanasia. He was going to be put down because his eyelids were turned inwards. While he was at ARNI, he definitely thought he was a cat. Volunteers would walk by his room and he would be sitting on one of the shelves. He needed surgery for his eyes and Franklin’s Friends were able to help us get this done. Mr. Ruffles found his forever home with the vet who helped with his surgery. He definitely went to a good home!

Rocket
Drax

Rocket and Drax

Rocket and Drax were rescued from Putnam County animal control. Before ARNI even got them they had people coming up to the shelter wanting to adopt them. They were both healthy and just needed to get fixed and updated on their vaccines. The spay and neuter clinic that ARNI uses was booked so they took them to our other vet. They found their forever homes in no time!

Blossom

Blossom

Blossom is a very sweet 3 year old female Chinese Crested that we rescued from a puppy mill. She spent most of her time breeding and having puppies. She was very shy and in rough condition. Blossom had a bad case of mange that has been left untreated for so long. She was missing almost all her fur. She also was diagnosed with kennel cough; she had to be hydrated 2 times a day for 5 days. She finally got better! After spending everyday with one of our volunteers, she came out of her shell. She loves to go on walks and best of all she loves people. We knew she would be going to the perfect home. When she was sick the family would come in every day to check on her. If they couldn’t make it in, they would call to check on her and make sure she was okay.

Ice, Trinity and Frost

Ice, Trinity & Frost

Ice, Trinity, and Frost were rescued from an abuse case. When they got to our shelter they were very scared and wouldn’t eat. At first we thought they were just scared and unaware of their surroundings, but after a couple days we took them to the vet. They ended up with FIP.

Hope

Bella

Bella is a very sweet and affectionate 4 year old Chi. We rescued her and several other dogs from a high kill shelter in Rural, Florida. She came in with a bad case of kennel cough. We quarantined her for a while. Once she was better, we got her fixed and she found her forever home.

Cinnamon and Champ

Cinnamon and Champ

Cinnamon and Champ were rescued from a kill shelter. Cinnamon is a 2 year old female Chihuahua mix and Champ is a 2 year male Jack Russell. When we got them, they were terrified and pretty sick. You barely pet them, without be scared to death. They had a terrible case of kennel cough. When they came back from the vets, we kept them in our office and took great care of them. A few weeks later, they became much better. You wouldn’t even know it was them. Now you can barely get away, they jump on your lap and crave attention. They are getting very spoiled while they wait for their forever family to come in!

Mabel and Willow
Willow

Mabel and Willow

Mabel and Willow were born a couple days before getting to our shelter. We rescued Mabel and Willow from a kill shelter in Palatka. We noticed that the 2 of them weren’t getting as big as their siblings and became lethargic. We took them to the vet and they were diagnosed with parvo. They were both hospitalized for a couple nights to get fluids and have great care. Once they received all their treatments we were able to come back to the shelter. Thankfully they both made a full recovery and found great homes!

Little Dude

Little Dude

Little Dude is a sweet little cat that we rescued. We noticed that something was wrong with his tail. At first we thought it was broken, but the vet said he was bitten by a spider. He got some treatment and was ready to go home. He got a great home with one of our staff members.

Joy

Joy

Joy was a 6 month old long hair Chihuahua that came from an abuse case. She was pretty much caged her whole time and never taken care of. When we received her she was in rough shape. We took her to the vet and she had kennel cough, it almost killed her. Once she got better, we knew we wouldn’t have trouble adopting her. People were fighting over her. She got a great home with one of our volunteers. She travels all over the place and we know she is in great hands!

Jinx

Jinx

Jinx is a 6 month old Terrier mix. We rescued her from a shelter in Northern Florida. When we got her, we were told that she has a heart problem. We wanted to take her to a specialist right away to see what was wrong. We were told that she was going to need heart surgery and if we couldn’t get it done she would only have 6 months to a year to live. We honestly don’t know what we would have done if we didn’t have Franklin’s Friends. Jinx headed to Gainesville, Florida where the University of Florida Small Animal Hospital to get her heart valve fixed. The surgery went great and now she can live a normal life. She did find her forever home while she was in Gainesville with one of the vet techs that took care of her. We know she will be in great hands!!

Coco

Coco

Coco is a gorgeous 8 month purebred German Shepard. She was rescued from a kill shelter in the Pan Handle. The poor little girl was in rough condition, you could just see it in her eyes. We took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with parvo. She got all the treatment that she needed and had no problem finding a home. Coco got a great home with a great family!

Karma

Karma

Karma is a gorgeous 3 1/2yr old female Boxer/Lab mix we rescued from being put to sleep at animal control when she was just 6 months old. She was in terribly rough shape after being thrown from a vehicle and wandering onto a nearby property where she had been attacked by a group of dogs. She had gashes that were very infected and open wounds all over her body. We rushed her right to the vet to be seen and put on antibiotics, but a week later, she collapsed and had to be rushed back. That is when Karma was diagnosed with diabetes. She was nursed back to health thanks to our amazing staff and volunteers as well as the wonderful staff at Pet Street Veterinary Care Center. Karma's diabetes is controlled with a special food and insulin shots twice daily, so we would like to give HUGE THANKS to Franklin's Friends for the unbelievably generous grants that help keep our babygirl happy and healthy while she waits for her forever family to come in!

Violet

Violet

Violet is a super sweet 3 month old female gray kitty we rescued from a high kill shelter back in September. Shortly after arriving at the shelter, we noticed she had soft stool that was getting worse as the days went by, so we brought her to the vet to get a check up. They ran a panleukopenia (feline parvo) test that thankfully came back negative and sent her back with meds to treat an infection. Within two weeks, Violet was as good as new, was able to be spayed, and found a forever family that loves her to pieces!

Hope

Hope

Hope is one of 10 puppies we rescued from Suwannee with a severe worm infestation. They were all so tiny, but their bellies were so big. They were dewormed as soon as they arrived, but the runt was acting very lethargic and parvo was suspected, so she was rushed in to the vet to get checked out. Thankfully that test came back negative, but Hope was so weak from the worms, she actually needed two blood transfusions and multiple hospital stays to save her life. In between hospital stays, she was being fostered by one of our staff members and when Hope was well enough to come back to the shelter, she didn't. Hope went home with Moe where she now has two doggie brothers and 3 kitty brothers as well as two loving mommies!

Heaven

Heaven

Heaven is a senior Pitbull we rescued from euthanasia at Putnam County Animal Control in 2014 after she had been used as a backyard breeder until she couldn't anymore and was discarded like garbage. Her uterus had ruptured, she was missing so much fur, she was very emaciated, and had the highest case of heartworm our vet had ever seen. It took a few months to get her back to health, but soon after she was adopted by one of our amazing volunteers and Heaven is now just about the most spoiled dog there is! Her wardrobe is bigger than her mommy's too! Heaven did have to go back to the vet for a problem with one of her teets and had a histopathy done. One mammary glad was removed due to being possibly cancerous and she may have to remove more in the future, but fingers crossed Heaven is finally out of the woods!

Skye

Skye

Skye is a beautiful 3yr old female Aussie/Lab mix we rescued from Putnam County Animal Control. She had a little bit of the runs when she got back to the shelter and was brought to the vet to be seen. She just needed some antibiotics to treat an infection due to internal parasites and she was feeling much better. Shortly after, Skye found a very loving forever family where she spends all her time relaxing and lounging around with her loved ones!

Spikette

Spikette

Spikette is a pretty 2yr old female Australian Cattle Dog we rescued from a high kill shelter in Palatka along with 7 other dogs. She was rooming with another dog and doing very well when we noticed she had been limping on one of her back legs. We brought her in to get her leg checked out and the vet couldn't find anything wrong, so she was given some pain medicine and sent back to the shelter. She may have just been playing too rough with the other dog and pulled something, but with a little rest and meds, she was as good as new. Spikette was adopted by a Veteran who had lost his Cattle Dog a year before and was finally ready to open his heart to another. He drove a few hours to come meet her and fell in love right away. Spikette is now spoiled rotten, has all kinds of room to run and play, and has two amazing parents who love her unconditionally!

Larry, Curly, & Moe
Larry, Curly, & Moe
Larry, Curly, & Moe

Larry, Curly, and Moe

Foster Kittens 1, 2 & 3 (Larry, Curly, & Moe) were found at only 2 days old after their momma had been hit by a car and needed someone to take care of them immediately. Two staff members and a volunteer took turns bottlefeeding these 3 sweethearts. At about 4 weeks old, they were acting very sluggish and we brought them to the vet to have a look. Feline parvo test thankfully came back negative, but they were given fluids and meds. Within a week they were feeling much better and once they were old enough, they all found loving families!

Rex

Rex

Rex was a very sweet senior German Shepherd we rescued from Suwannee County after his owners surrendered him. He was having issues walking and showed signs of past abuse, so they thought that he had been kicked in the back by his previous owner. When we heard about this poor boy, we had him rushed right to us and brought to the vet. Our vet recommended we take him to specialist where they ran some tests and determined Rex had neurological issues, which is what was causing his walking issues. The specialist said that no surgery would be able to help him and the most humane thing to do would be euthanasia, so with heavy hearts, we agreed and let them do what needed to be done. Rex is in a much better place than all of us now <3

Rodney

Rodney

Rodney was a feisty senior Chihuahua who was rescued by one of our volunteers. He was a very grumpy, snappy little guy who didn't like most people, but he fell in love with Christine and they bonded right away. One day he was acting very lethargic and started having seizures. He was rushed to the vet where he was given meds and fluids, but sadly he passed away shortly after in his mommy's arms. The vet said he was in liver/kidney failure due to old age :(

Casper

Casper

Casper is a handsome 6yr old male solid black kitty we rescued from local animal control as a kitten in 2009. Despite all the efforts from our staff and volunteers, he has always been very afraid of people, so he is one of our long term resident kitties and king of Catopia. He is spoiled rotten with all kinds of toys, treats, and canned food as well as many kitty friends. We noticed back in October he had a tooth that was protruding from his mouth, so we had him rushed to the vet to have it removed immediately. Casper has completely recovered and the missing tooth doesn't slow down his eating habits one bit!

Gabriella

Gabriella

Gabriella is a very affectionate senior Poodle mix we rescued after she had been abandoned in the Redlands area near Miami and was in extremely rough shape. The vets found that she had a collapsed trachea as well as severe dental issues and lumps on her mammary glands which required a histopathy to see if they were cancerous. Despite everything she has been through, Gabriella is a happy go lucky gal and she found her forever home with a wonderful woman who was willing to go through the treatment with her and love her unconditionally!

Lotus

Lotus

Lotus is a 10yr old female Ragdoll mix who was adopted from us as a kitten and returned this past year after her owner passed away. She is a sweet kitty, but she isn't very fond of new people or being back here at all. When she started losing fur, we brought her to the vet for an exam, but they couldn't find anything wrong with her skin whatsoever. They suspect she might be stressed being back at the shelter, so they sent us back with some spray to help with her fur and we put her in a different room to try to make her more comfortable. Her hair is growing back and she seems to be starting to come around with us!

Gator

Gator

Gator is an adorable 7 month old male Dachshund mix we rescued from Animal Control in Palatka along with 5 other dogs the day they were going to be euthanized. He was a little afraid at first, but he warmed up very quickly and found an amazing forever family! He came in around the same time the spay/neuter clinic was closed, so we brought him to another vet so he wouldn't have to wait!

Tango

Tango

Tango is a handsome 4yr old male Basset Hound we rescued from Animal Control in Palatka. He came in with Gator & Fia and was one of the sweetest, most outgoing pups. It was no shock to us when he found an amazing family the second day he was here, so we rushed him in for neuter surgery at another vet since the clinic next door was closed for the holidays, and Tango got to spend the holidays with his forever family!

Lotus

Fia

Fia is a beautiful 6 month old female Border Collie/Retriever mix we rescued from Suwannee. She was one of the most friendly little pups ever and loved to spend time with our volunteers, but she came in with a case of kennel cough and had to be quarantined for a little while. Once she was all better, she found a loving forever family! The spay/neuter clinic was closed for the holidays, so Fia was spayed at another vets office so she could go home asap!

Sadie

Sadie

Sadie is a sweet and affectionate 1yr old female Boxer/Lab mix we rescued from a high kill shelter after she was found chained up with an embedded collar in her neck, more than likely the same one she had since she was a puppy. She actually needed surgery to have it removed since her skin was growing over it. Sadie took surgery like a champ and recovered so quickly. Her wounds were almost completely healed when she was adopted by an amazing family who will show her how much love a dog is supposed to receive and much, much more!

Marty

Marty

Marty is a gorgeous 4yr old male German Shepherd we rescued from animal control on the day he was going to be put down. This happy go lucky boy had no idea and was just so happy when he arrived at our shelter. He came in around the holidays when the spay/neuter clinic was closed, so we brought him to another vet to get neutered so he could go home right away with the wonderful family that fell in love with him!

Lizie

Lizzie

Lizzie is a chunky 2yr old female tiger kitty we rescued being put to sleep in Suwannee. She was one of the sweetest, most affectionate kitties we've rescued. She was brought to the vet for what looked to be a URI, but the vet said she was pretty healthy. We still gave her a little clavamox to be on the safe side and clean up her eyes, and within a week, Miss Lizzie found a terrific forever family who loves and spoils her like crazy!

Mike

Mike

Mike is a handsome 2yr old male longhaired orange tabby we rescued from euthanasia around Thanksgiving. Unfortunately the spay/neuter clinic next door to us was closed for the holidays and he had a family lined up, so we brought him to another vet to get the surgery done real quick so he didn't have to wait any longer!

Bridget
NYY

Bridget and NYY

Bridget(Black Cat) and NNY White Cat(Anastasia) are two super sweet kitties we rescued from Suwannee. They seemed pretty healthy at first, but soon their stool kept getting softer as the days went by and they had to be brought to the vet for severe cases of diarrhea. They were given meds and right now they are still on them, but we are doing are best to get them back to health as soon as possible!

Nebula

Nebula

Nebula was rescued from Putnam County animal control. She was with Rocket and Drax. She was healthy as could be and just needed to be fixed and get her vaccines. ARNI knew she would find a home pretty quickly so they took her to our other vet since the one we used was booked for two weeks. She didn’t have to wait long; she had a family in line for her. When they came to pick her up, they had a whole car full of toys and supplies. !

Franklin's Friends granted $10,000 to Houndhaven to help them purchase a van to transport rescued dogs to adoption events, veterinary appointments, and home visits and to rescue dogs and transport them to their shelter.

Hound Haven Van

Little Abner

Little Abner

Little Abner, now known as Toby, has gone to live with a long time friend of HH. His two previous HH dogs have died, and although he tried to resist, he had to have another! When he saw Toby sitting quietly in his kennel, he knew that he would be just the boy for him. Toby's new dad is retired, so Toby will have lots of human attention, which is what he wants more than anything. He also has a new mom and some feline siblings. He has a fenced yard for ball playing, but we suspect that Toby will spend most of his time belly up on the couch! Way to go, Toby, you hit the jackpot!!

Sydney and Champagne

Sydney and Champagne

Sydney and Champagne had to wait a few months while they worked their magic, but they eventually won over the heart of one of our volunteers! Having just lost her HH girl recently to cancer, her heart was ready to love again and these girls are definitely very loveable! The girls got along well with their new sibling, Maggie the beagle, and were very excited about their new feline relatives. Mom plans to work on making them less excited! The girls will never have to be outside dogs again, which is what they want most in the world, and we know they will be as spoiled as any dogs ever were. We have all gotten very attached to them and are thrilled that we will get to see them at the HH events!

Georgie

Georgie

We have the happiest news! Georgie has been adopted! He came to Houndhaven January 6, 2015 – 1 ½ years ago! He had heartworms and was in really poor condition. We are so grateful to his foster family who took such good care of him for the majority of this time and treated him as their own. And now Georgie has a permanent home with a wonderful couple in The Villages. From his arrival Georgie was relaxed and comfortable with his new parents (following them around, rolling over for belly rubs, and stretching out for a nap close to them). Thank you, thank you to his new mom and dad for recognizing what a great dog Georgie is and giving him a place in their home and heart.

Daisy Duke and Dakota Fanning

Daisy Duke and Dakota Fanning

Both Dakota and Daisy came to Houndhaven together from a breeder who was downsizing. Two of our volunteers felt a special connection with 11 year old Dakota and immediately took her into their home to foster her. She fit in well with their family, and it wasn’t long after that they also brought 8 year old Daisy to their home as a foster. It turned out to be a love match all around and their foster parents have made Daisy and Dakota permanent members of their family which now includes four Houndhaven dogs! Congrats, Daisy and Dakota

Alicia

Alicia

Alicia has two new human sisters, ages 6 and 8, and she’s a happy girl. When she got to her home, she followed the girls everywhere and rolled on her back so they could scratch her tummy. She’ll very likely soon follow them into the pool as well. She was calm interacting with her family’s 13 yr old cat and didn’t chase him. Alicia just seemed to fit right in with the whole family. She lives about a block and a half from the ocean and her family walks a lot in their beach community and are happy to include her now on those walks. Since her first weekend at home is the Fourth of July weekend, her new name will be in keeping with that holiday theme. We can’t wait to hear what it will be.

Hoover

Hoover

It’s finally Hoover’s turn to have a family of his own! Hoover lives with his parents in a gorgeous rural area. On the property adjoining his house is a barn with horses. And while Hoover will visit the barn, it will only be safely on a leash and when he’s with mom. He’s definitely going to be a member of the family and live a cushy life in the house. In fact, mom wrote that he’s settled in fantastically and slept at his dad’s feet while she went shopping for some new things for Hoover. At the home visit Hoover went up to his mom on his own, unprompted and looked up adoringly at her and sweetly offered her his paw. It was like he was saying, “Thank you for adopting me!” She said it’s a blessing to have Hoover in their life.

Ruth

Ruth

Ruthie had been waiting at Houndhaven for months for a family to adopt her and her new family had been searching for months for a dog to adopt. It’s wonderful that their paths finally crossed! At her home Ruthie has her own cozy alcove where there were treats, bowls, toys and a bright pink collar waiting for her. She settled in quickly and loved her human brother from the moment she saw him. Ruthie can watch Disney’s fireworks from her lanai or even from her pool if she decides she wants to do so. During her first weekend at home, her family said that she’s transitioned beautifully into their family and seems really content. They’ve gone on long walks together and she showed them how brilliant she is by demonstrating her grasp of several commands. :) There was some discussion that there may be a new name in her future. But one thing isn’t up for debate and that is--Ruthie has a forever home.

Eva

Eva

Apparently Eva had a specific home in mind and she wasn't about to settle for anything else. We took her on several home visits, but none of them seemed to be just the right fit for her . . . until now. Eva was waiting for the perfect family which we now know consists of Mom and Dad and canine brother Samson, a 5 year old golden retriever who loves everyone. She thoroughly checked out the house and fenced yard and found them to her liking. After accidentally falling into the pool, she even enjoyed her leisurely swim over to the stairs. But the best part of the visit was the amazing towel rub she got from Mom. She was practically glowing from Mom's attention and that's when we knew that Eva was home. We're so glad that she found the perfect family and wish them all the very best. Way to go, Eva!!

Chili

Chili

Last June, Houndhaven alum Miller and his mom adopted puppy Gilbert from us. And now, a year later, the three of them have come back to Houndhaven and added 6-month old fox red lab Chili to their family (this is actually mom’s fifth Houndhaven adoption). She saw how much Lucca (f/k/a Gilbert) loves to play with other dogs and wanted to find a dog with his energy level that also loves to play with other dogs. She saw Chili on our website and brought Lucca out to the shelter to meet him and the two of them hit it off. She knew easy-going big brother Miller would be accepting of Chili. With a huge fenced backyard and a never-ending supply of tennis balls for fetch and a pool with a walk-out to be added in the near future, Miller, Lucca and Chili are in for a fun summer! Congratulations to Chili’s mom and her three sweet boys.

Olaf

Olaf

Olaf was very popular, but he had a medical condition that required special care so he needed a special home. He is what they call a "wobbler", meaning that his limbs are a bit weak and unsteady because his spinal cord is compressed by surrounding tissue. Olaf had the surgery to fix the immediate compression, but there is always a risk of future compression. As God would have it, one of his caretakers at Affiliated Veterinary Specialists fell in love with him and was willing to assume the risks associated with our wobbly boy! Olaf now lives with an entire family of Olaf fans--mom, dad, human sister and brother and canine sister (there is a bird too but we're not sure if he is an Olaf fan). Mom and Dad work alternate schedules so someone is almost always at home, and Olaf and his canine pal are quite good playmates. They could hardly wait for Olaf's recuperation period to be over so they could play in the fenced yard together! We now can rest comfortably in the fact that Olaf will get whatever medical attention he needs and that he will have a loving family to boot! Not bad for a wobbler. :)

Powderpuff

Powderpuff

Powderpuff’s life has completely turned around. She’s gone from being a stray with a collar embedded in her neck to becoming a part of a happy family (two parents, two cats, one labrador) and having a beautiful home with a lake view. Powderpuff’s first meeting with her new siblings went well. Both cats actually like dogs and she was curious about these two mysterious creatures without being aggressive. Big sister Daisy, the yellow lab, loves everyone and more than once Powderpuff would come back to Daisy and stretch out alongside her. It was very sweet to see. From now on Powderpuff will have all the t.l.c. she needs from mom and dad. They want to eventually add another dog to the family and we hope they come back to Houndhaven when they’re ready to do that.

Buster

Buster

Buster was sad to lose his family of nine years, but we can now say it was for the best because he won the lottery when it comes to dog homes! Long time friends of Houndhaven decided Buster was just the guy to heal their hearts after losing their beloved HH alum CJ to cancer this week. Buster will be daddy's boy and go everywhere with him. Dad owns a couple of car dealerships, so Buster will go to work and be spoiled by all the employees there. The family also travels to the mountains and to the beach in their RV so all the canines come along. Buster has two canine sisters and one smaller canine brother, as well as two human siblings, and a new mom and dad. We feel pretty sure that Buster will never be lonely again!

Grant Recipient:

Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida

March 2016

PPR Logo

Franklin's Friends granted $15,000 to Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida to rescue, vet, shelter, feed, and find forever homes for 80-100 dogs.

Scruffy

Scruffy

Scruffy is a Westie who arrived to PPR with a large thyroid tumor. The tumor was removed and was cancerous. Thyroid cancer is very aggressive and will likely return within 1-2 years. But right now he feels great right and there are no signs of cancer anywhere in his body. So PPR’s goal is to give this boy the BEST life in the time he has left! Scruffy’s foster parents love him so they want to keep him as a PPR Permanent Resident. Scruffy is home!

Newton

Newton

This little boy was rescued from animal control. He has a lot going on!
Newton’s ears are terribly inflamed and uncomfortable. He cannot hear much and the vet can’t even see inside his ears to see how deep the infection goes. The vet has started Newton on oral and topical medications and hopes the inflammation will subside so he does not have to have surgery to remove the ear canals. He also has a large polyp in one ear that will have to be removed.
Newton also has dislocated kneecaps on both rear knees. He is not showing any discomfort now but if he does he will need surgery to repair one or both knees.
Finally, he has a lump in his groin area which is either a lymph node or a testicle that was not removed when he was neutered. If the lump is a lymph node it will go away on its own – otherwise he will have to have it surgically removed.
He has a lot of hurdles to overcome but Newton is the happiest, sweetest boy around. Everyone who meets him falls in love!

Winnie

Winnie

Winnie and her 8 pups were found under a building. A good Samaritan caught them and brought them to safety at PPR. Winnie was terrified when she arrived. Although PPR volunteers have been working with her to overcome her fear, Winnie will need a forever home that is patient and understanding. She still needs to be socialized to new settings but her foster mom is working to make her understand that the rest of her life will be lived with a full belly and nothing but love and kindness.

Brie

Brie

Brie is a 7-8 month old puppy that some teenagers found after hearing her crying in the woods. She was covered in ticks and loaded with hookworms. She also had a bump on her head and further investigation revealed a hole in her skull probably from being beaten. Brie will be spayed and microchipped and then will be ready to find her forever home! She is a complete sweetheart and is acting like a normal puppy now.

Willow

Willow

Willow was rescued from animal control with a large tumor on her back right foot. The biopsy showed a cancerous mast cell tumor which means she needs to have her leg amputated. To complicate matters, her left knee also requires surgery. Since she will be a three legged dog the vet will first repair her left knee. 8 weeks later her right leg will be amputated. In the meantime Willow is happy and having a great time!

Booker

Booker

Booker was hit by a car. A Good Samaritan pulled over, picked him up, and made arrangements to get him to PPR. Luckily the vet found no serious injuries. But Booker does have a rear knee that is locked out of place and needs to be surgically repaired. He will be even more playful when he has even stronger legs!!!

Fifi was being turned into animal control while one of the PPR volunteers was there to pick up another dog. She couldn’t bear to watch this owner surrender Fifi just because she is blind. Fifi’s luck changed that day as the volunteer scooped her up just in time. Fifi is between 8 and 10 years old. She has the personality of a younger dog because she is very engaged, active and in good shape, but she was completely blind. The eye doctor diagnosed her with cataracts which were removed (but not until her teeth were cleaned and her breast tumors were removed) and a lens was implanted in one eye. This has given Fifi her sight back!!!!

Mollie

Mollie

Mollie is a hound mix who arrived to PPR very skinny and with tumors all over her underside. The tumors were removed and she is recovering beautifully. Now that the tumors are no longer draining her body of nutrients, she is gaining weight!

Shelly

Shelly

Shelly came to Poodle and Pooch Rescue heartworm positive and with a cancerous mast cell tumor on her side. They treated her heartworm and removed the cancer. They removed a large enough area that it is unlikely the cancer will recur. Shelly has healed well and is ready for her forever home!

Jean Pierre

Jean Pierre

Unfortunately Jean Pierre and his sister (Dixie) had their owner pass away. Their extended family took them to animal control and now they are safe with Poodle and Pooch Rescue. He is 8-9 years old and has a cherry eye that needs to be repaired. Once he adjusts to his new living situation he will have his surgery and be available for adoption!

Henri

Henri

Poodle and Pooch Rescue saved Henri from animal control after he was returned when his adopted family moved. His Xrays showed a tumor on his spleen but luckily it was benign. He also had a benign polyp removed from his rear end a small growth removed from his eye. He was quickly adopted by a Boston terrier lover whose dog had just passed away.

Colby

Colby

Poodle and Pooch Rescue rescued Colby from animal control. He was so matted he had to be anesthetized to be groomed – and they found a fishing hook lodged in his foot! Colby is quickly learning to trust people and will soon be a wonderful addition to a lucky family!

Gem

Gem

Gem was found by a county employee in a wooded area locked in a crate. Poodle and Pooch Rescue took her to the vet where she was treated for a urinary tract infection and worms and spayed. She also had a bath and grooming and was soon unrecognizably beautiful. She is now safe and happy in her forever home!

Kimmy

Kimmy

Ginger

Ginger

Ginger is a senior dog but she is healthy other than her eyes and her teeth. Ginger had entoprion - a condition where the eyelids turn inward and the lashes scratch the eyes causing scarring. Ginger had all 4 eyelids removed and is on medicine to improve the scarring which will hopefully improve her vision. She has also had several teeth removed and a tumor removed from her side. This spectacular senior will soon be ready for a forever home!

Lulu and Daisy

Lulu and Daisy

Little Lulu is about 5 yrs old and just over 5 lbs. She came to Poodle and Pooch Rescue unspayed with hookworms, infected teeth, and one knee that needs surgery. She has already been spayed and had her teeth treated. She will have her knee surgery soon. She has bonded closely with her pal Daisy so will need to go to a family willing to adopt both of them together.

Bogey

Bogey

Bogey came to Poodle and Pooch rescue after one of their volunteers found him wandering around a golf course. He was matted and covered in bleeding sores. His teeth were broken, he had an ear infection, and his eyes were inflamed from dry eyes that were untreated. He is blind in his left eye and has partial vision in his right eye. He received fluids, antibiotics, and steroids with amazing improvement in his overall well being. He went to see the eye doctor who thinks his sight will improve with daily eye drops. This boy will be ready for a forever home soon!

Bonnie and Clyde

Bonnie and Clyde

Bonnie and Clyde came from The Redlands – an area of South Florida where people unfortunately dump their dogs. Bonnie is about 9 years old and had to have a dental treatment and removal of several breast tumors (common in dogs that are not spayed). She will be having cataract surgery soon so she doesn’t go blind! Clyde is about 8 years old and he just needed to be neutered and have his teeth cleaned. He’s just waiting for his pal Bonnie to be ready for a home so they can be adopted out together!

Darby

Darby

Darby was also rescued from The Redlands. She was very pregnant and delivered 9 pups the day after Poodle and Pooch rescued her. Because she was very malnourished she couldn't make milk to feed her puppies. Her foster mom had to tube feed the puppies every two hours. But with Poodle and Pooch Rescue's wonderful care Darby and her puppies are all doing well!

Angel

Angel

Angel is a one eyed dog that was rescued by Poodle and Pooch. She was struggling to urinate and her urine was bloody. She had surgery to remove bladder stones, was spayed, and had some dental work done. Now she is ready for adoption!

Sadie

Sadie

Sadie was found on 5/27/16 as a hit by car. She was taken to the emergency clinic for radiographs and an exam. Radiographs showed a luxation of the femoral head in the left leg. She was brought back to the facility, where an FHO was performed. She was put on a rehabilitation schedule with our interns until she was transferred to Pet Alliance for further care and she was adopted.

Trixie

Trixie

Trixie came to us on 12/15/17 as a stray, hit by car. She was transferred to the emergency clinic for treatment and stabilization. Upon exam it was found that Trixie had a injured eye and fractured upper and lower left canine teeth. She was brought back to the facility where her owner came in to claim her. When the owner came in a saw Trixie’s condition she was going to elect humane euthanasia due to financial constraints and her inability to seek veterinary care and surgery. As a staff we rallied together with our doctor to have radiographs done to asses further damage and remove the damaged eye and the fractured teeth to get Trixie home to her family for the holidays.

A240495

A240495

She came to us through the give up room as a stray with a severe prolapsed uterus. Due to the severity of the prolapse she was sent to the emergency clinic as we did not have a doctor on staff and the weekend was approaching. She was spayed and the prolapse was repaired via laser surgery. She resided with us during her stray time and was adopted by the husband and wife that found her. The husband adopted the dog for his wife for Christmas because he felt she needed a friend and he would benefit from loving the dog as well.

Justice

Justice

This is Justice and the staff at west end animal hospital. With the medical staff from Animal Services. Justice was picked up after a good Samaritan called and reported him to be skin and bones. It turned out this little guy had a corncob stuck in his intestines. Dr. Russo performed his surgery and the staff from the shelter came in for his surgery including our doctor. He had so many people pulling for him. He is doing very well and has a beautiful new home and family. The girls from the vet suite at animal services came to say goodbye to him as he embarks on a whole new adventure . We love you Justice!!!! This case was a collaborative effort with West End Animal Care Clinic and the Veterinary staff of Osceola County Animal Services.

Moose

Moose

Moose came to us a confiscation case. He was taken from the owner for failure to provide medical care for the wounds he sustained as the result of a dog fight with his kennel mates. He was severely underweight and his left ear was damaged, had multiple puncture wounds and maggots in the wounds and ear canal. He was also found to be heartworm positive. He had surgery immediately upon intake to repair the wounds and extract the maggots from the ear canal. He quickly became a staff and volunteer favorite due to his sweet demeanor and loving personality. Moose was transferred to Pet Alliance for adoption once we were granted custody of him. He has since been adopted.

Pistol

Pistol

Pistol came to us as a part of a confiscation case along with Moose. She was in fairly decent health and just needed some TLC. Bloodwork was performed to asses any organ/blood abnormalities due to the use of supplementations. She also became a staff/volunteer favorite due to her incredible personality. She was transferred to the Pet Alliance for adoption after we obtained custody of her and her Moose. They were transferred to ensure the owner did not have an opportunity to get them back.

Heartworm Positive Dogs

Heartworm Positive Dogs

Osceola County Animal Services seized 9 dogs that were being crated and kept in the back of a van. These three were heartworm positive. A grant from Franklin's Friends is paying for their heartworm treatment. A local rescue group will be taking these three to ultimately get them adopted. That should be super easy since they are so darn cute!

Kit and Kaboodle Club

A portion of Franklins' Friends grant was allocated to the Kit and Kaboodle Club. Every year kittens are euthanized because they are brought to the shelter before they are old enough and weigh enough to be adopted. This program supplies resources such as food, milk replacer, bottles, and education to fosters so they can care for the kittens until they are 8 weeks old and weigh at least 2 pounds. When they reach these goals they can either be adopted by the foster parents or brought to the shelter to be put up for adoption.

Karma

Karma

Karma is one of the sweetest dogs ARNI has ever encountered in animal rescue. She came to them in a very terrible state. The woman who brought her to animal control told them she found Karma on her property after her dogs had attacked her, but Karma also had other pre-existing injuries that were not caused by the dog attack. Karma was rescued by ARNI and when they took her to the vet he determined she had also been hit by a car. Luckily no bones were broken! Karma had road rash that skinned her back leg and a huge gash in her neck had become infected. The dogs who attacked her caused deep lacerations all down her front legs and one of her ears was almost entirely covered in a scab. And on top of everything else, poor Karma was also diagnosed with demodex mange and diabetes. Since then she has completely healed and the diabetes doesn't slow her down one bit. She does need to receive insulin shots twice daily and to follow a special diet. Karma is being spoiled rotten at ARNI while she waits for her forever family to find her!

Pepper

Pepper

Pepper is 1 of 7 chihuahuas rescued after they were found abandoned in a home after their owner passed away. They were all so afraid at first, but with tons of love and affection, they opened up in no time. They all found forever families very quickly, but soon after going home, Pepper became very ill. ARNI rushed her in to see the vet where she received x-rays, fluids, exploratory surgery, and then she had to be hospitalized for a few days before she was well enough to return home. Apparently she ate something but was able to pass it on her own. Now she is back home and spoiled by her forever family!

Tina

Tina

Tina is a petite black Chihuahua rescued along with Pepper and the other Chihuahuas who were abandoned after their owner passed away. Tina was terrified and very pregnant, so she was fostered by one of our staff members. Sadly her puppies passed away very soon after being born and she had to be hospitalized due to parvovirus. But this little girl is a fighter and she was able to beat it. Shortly after recovering, she found an amazing forever family who love her very much!

May

May (Toni)

May (Toni) is one of 13 puppies rescued from euthanasia at animal control. She was missing fur by her eye and was diagnosed demodex mange. A short course of antibiotics and a little ointment and she was a brand new pup! The sweet man who adopted her didn't care she was still missing a little hair around her eye and even has another dog to be her buddy!

Tabitha

Tabitha

Tabitha is a super sweet and affectionate Black Lab rescued from a high kill shelter in terribly rough shape. She was missing a lot of hair and was covered in scabs/sores. She was diagnosed with demodex mange, but shortly after starting her medication, she found a loving family who were more than happy to continue her treatment in her forever home.

NNY

NNY Kitten

NNY Kitten is one out of a litter of 3 who were born at ARNI in May 2016. His mommy was rescued from animal control in Palatka when she was still pregnant and she gave birth not too long after. He and his brothers were diagnosed with ringworm. They are now all going through treatment and getting lots of TLC from the ARNI staff/volunteers while they recover!

Mamma Dachshund

Mamma Dachshund

This Dachshund mamma and her 4 puppies were rescued from a high-kill shelter after they were taken from a backyard breeder. Mamma was in rough shape, missing fur and heartworm positive. The family was fostered until the pups were old enough to be adopted. The foster family ended up adopting Mamma and helped us find wonderful homes for her babies. Mamma will continue her heartworm treatment with her forever family!

Saber-Sparrow

Saber & Sparrow

Saber and Sparrow are 2 of 4 puppies rescued from a high kill shelter. Their fur was starting to get patchy, so they were taken to the vet to have skin scrapings done and were given antibiotics for demodex mange. Of course all four puppies found forever families quickly. Saber and Sparrow continued their treatment in their new homes.

Buddy the Elf

Buddy the Elf

Buddy the Elf is a gorgeous male orange tabby ARNI rescued after he was attacked by a dog and brought to a high kill shelter. Before even coming to the shelter, ARNI rushed him straight to the emergency vet for x-rays and they saw he needed amputation surgery immediately. Dr. Zavota took amazing care of this sweet boy and he has recovered very quickly. He is one of the happiest, most playful kittens ever and he found his forever home in no time!

Pearl

Pearl

Pearl is a flame point Siamese cat ARNI adopted out in 2013 as a kitten. Unfortunately she was returned three years later when her family moved. She was only back at the shelter for a few weeks before she found her new family. Sadly she was returned 5 months later in very rough shape. The adopters said she had gone missing for a few days and turned up in this condition. They said that they could not afford treatment, nor did they want to keep her. ARNI rushed her in to be seen at the vet as she was missing fur and was swollen and inflamed around her genitals. She had her anal glands expressed and was given antibiotics as well as a spray for the inflammation. She is currently undergoing treatment at ARNI and is feeling much better! She is patiently waiting for her final forever home!.

Sheba

Sheba

Sheba is a female Great Dane rescued along with two other dogs after they were found abandoned in the woods and taken to a high kill shelter. She was extremely pregnant, but lost her puppies due to a viral infection that went undetected. She is now on antibiotics and special food to help her get back to 100%. Sheba is receiving extra special care and love from all the ARNI staff and volunteers during this hard time.

Deb

Deb

Deb is a beautiful female black and white long haired kitty rescued from animal control the day she was set to be euthanized. She couldn't use one of her back legs so she was rushed to the vet for xrays which revealed her leg needed to be amputated immediately. She is recovering very well and is already learning to walk with just three legs. She is such a tough girl and will be as good as new in no time.

Pig Newton

Pig Newton

Pig Newton is an 11 month old male Pot-Bellied Pig rescued from euthanasia in Suwannee County after his owner surrendered him to a high-kill shelter. He cried and cried after she left and wouldn't stop until they found a dog he could room with. The little terrier was actually very protective of his new piggy friend and we rescued them both. They both found wonderful families after they were neutered and are absolutely spoiled rotten now!

Malcolm

Malcolm

Malcolm is 5yr old a Great Dane rescued from Suwannee County after he was found abandoned in the woods with two other dogs and brought to a high-kill shelter. He was in terrible shape, he tested high positive for heartworms and had many open wounds/gashes across his body after what appeared to have been an attack by a wild boar. He was also so emaciated, you could see every rib and his hip bones. He was rushed back to the vet after he had what appeared to be tremors, but after all the testing, they found nothing wrong with him. ARNI took extra special care of him for a few months until he found an amazing forever family that loves him to pieces!

Hazel

Hazel

Hazel is a loving 10 month old Great Dane/Walker Hound mix rescued from euthanasia at a high kill shelter in Palatka along with her sister when they were only 3 months old. They were both adopted, but she turned up as an owner surrender at the local humane society. Hazel has now found a new family that absolutely adores her!

Two Face

Two Face (Oreo)

Two-Face (Oreo) is a sweet 2yr old Dachshund/Chihuahua rescued from euthanasia at a high-kill shelter in Suwannee. He was attacked by a much larger dog and rushed to the vet to get checked out. Thankfully no serious injuries or broken bones! He recovered in no time and found a loving family all his own!

Malcolm

Nightwing/Winnie

Winnie & Nightwing are two puppies who had to be treated for demodex mange. ARNI rescued their 1yr old momma from euthanasia at animal control in Palatka when she was extremely pregnant and just 5 days later, she gave birth to 7 precious pups. They all found loving families, momma included! Winnie and Nightwing continued treatment in their new homes.

Orlando and Sarasota

Orlando and Sarasota

Orlando and Sarasota were two of seven puppies born too Boca the German Shepherd. Initially the vet said they were healthy other than ringworm but within two weeks, one by one, their health quickly deteriorated and they had to be rushed to the vet. They were diagnosed with parvovirus and all had to be hospitalized. The amazing veterinary team took special care of all 7 of the puppies but only Orlando and Sarasota survived. But thankfully they have recovered completely and are happy and healthy in their forever homes.

Bangle

Bangle

Bangle is a super sweet 1yr old male tiger kitty rescued from euthanasia at animal control in Palatka. His paw was swollen so he was given antibiotics and isolated until he healed up. Now he is back in Catopia at ARNI having a blast with all of his other kitty friends while he waits on his forever family!

Marvin

Marvin (Dude)

Marvin (Dude) is a loving and affectionate 1yr old male 3-legged kitty rescued from euthanasia at animal control in Palatka. The people who brought him in said that he recently injured his back leg at their house, but "it wasn't serious" and they had bandaged him up themselves. He was rushed straight to the emergency vet and it turns out the injury was wrapped up so tightly, he had lost circulation and it was so severely infected, he was beginning to get gangrene. The only option left was to amputate the leg to try to save his life. Dr. Zavota took care of him all weekend long to make sure he was recovering ok! He is back at ARNI being spoiled rotten and getting tons of love from staff and volunteers until he is well enough to go to his forever home!

Lola

Lola (Sunflower)

Lola (Sunflower) is a 1yr old Border Collie/Lab mix rescued from euthanasia at a high-kill shelter in Suwannee along with her 7 pups. She took amazing care of them until they all found forever families. She had been adopted, but started bleeding and her owner couldn't get her to stop so she brought her back to ARNI. Lola and her owner were rushed to the vet. They were able to stop the bleeding and sent her home with her owner with strict instructions to keep Lola quiet and calm. Thankfully she is doing just fine and is spoiled rotten in her forever home!

Lana

Lana

Lana was diagnosed with ringworm and given antibiotics. She is still being treated, but she is being spoiled rotten by the ARNI staff/volunteers and should be as good as new in no time!

Miami

Miami

Miami is a German Shepherd mix puppy who is being treated for demodex mange. ARNI rescued his family from euthanasia at a high-kill shelter in Suwannee when they were just 10 days old. He should be as good as new in no time!

Lauren

Lauren

Lauren is a 4 year old Mastiff mix mommy ARNI rescued from euthanasia at animal control in Palatka along with two of her pups. Sadly, two of her other pups had already been euthanized for "being too wormy." She took amazing care of her pups until they found their forever families and is patiently waiting on hers now. She went to the vet for a large mass found in one of her nipples that is possibly cancerous, but she would need to have a biopsy done to confirm or exclude that. Right now the vets are still discussing the best options. The volunteers at ARNI are spoiling her rotten until the best treatment solution is found!

Hazel

Molly

Molly is a pretty little 5yr old Min Pin/Chihuahua momma rescued from euthanasia in Suwannee with (4) 5 day old puppies. She took amazing care of her babies, but came down with a respiratory infection and they all had to be put on antibiotics. As soon as they were well enough, they all found loving forever homes! Molly is very loved and spoiled rotten!

Savannah

Savannah

Savannah is one of Molly's babies who started to lose little patches of fur shortly after adoption and was diagnosed with the beginning stages of ringworm. She received medication as well as lots of love from her family during her treatment and is all better now!

Franklin's Friends granted $10,000 to Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida to rescue, vet, shelter, feed, and find forever homes for 50 more dogs than last year.

Stewart
Stewart

Stewart

Stewart was left in a box in front of a vet's office with a note that read "I have mice". The owner meant "mites" (mange), but even that was wrong. The vet's office asked Poodle and Pooch Rescue to take Stewart into their care. It turns out Stewart had Puppy Strangles which is an autoimmune disease that attacks the skin. The lymph nodes on the neck get so inflamed that, if not treated, they actually strangle the puppy. Stewart was treated with prednisone, antibiotics, and medicated baths. With the help of Poodle and Pooch Rescue, he will be just fine.

Lucy

Lucy

Lucy, a sweet girl, had been severely neglected. Lucy has lots of breast tumors which are common in unspayed older females that have been used for breeding. Lucy needs a full mastectomy on the left and a partial on the right. The vet will do her mastectomy and spay in one surgery. She will likely stay hospitalized for 3 days, then go back home with her foster family to recover. Despite this, Lucy is a trusting, happy girl. She LOVES affection and attention!

Jellybean

Jellybean

Jellybean was dumped from a car into a neighborhood to fend for herself. The neighbors coaxed Jellybean into their arms and called Poodle and Pooch Rescue. She was thin, but an extremely happy girl. She is about 3 years old, heartworm negative, has a good heart, good knees and good teeth. But she has very swollen lymph nodes and her bloodwork showed a white count over 40k (normal is about 7k). The vet did a biopsy which came back as indolent lymphoma, a non agressive form of cancer. It is the best type of lymphoma to have, but this is still cancer. Dogs with chronic lymphoma do extremely well on medication and this type of lymphoma doesn't spread to organs. Jellybean is a happy girl and she feels great, although she has short episodes of lethargy. But it's hard to be worried about a dog that trots like a show dog, wags her tail if you look in her direction and eats like a champ!

Macho

Macho

Macho came from animal control where he wasn't adopted because of his age. He had a large fatty tumor on his side that was unsightly so it was removed when his teeth (which were in horrible shape) were cleaned. Macho has congestive heart failure, but dogs live a long time in heart failure if they are given the proper medications. Macho was very withdrawn on arrival but has come out of his shell finally and actually now plays and demands attention. Given that he may have only 6 months to 2 years to live, it feels cruel to move him from the foster parents that he has come to love. Poodle and Pooch Rescue is providing for Macho's care for the rest of his life so he can stay with his foster mom and dad Jeannie and Jimmie who are retirees that will continue to give Macho the life he deserves. Macho is happy and feels good. He still has lots of memories to make!

Bindi

Bindi

Bindi was found in the woods by a horseback rider. She was not microchipped and was in horrid shape. The woman that found her kept Bindi for a week and tried her best to find the owner with no success. Bindi is about 3 yrs old and 12 lbs. The vet describes her skin as "a disaster caused by years of chronic infection". When her skin and ear infections were treated Bindi was scared, confused and tried to bite the vet a few times. She went to her foster home and within 2 days she is a wonderful, trusting gal that is fascinated with toys and drags her dog bed to whichever room she decides to nap in!

Moochy

Moochy

Moochy arrived at Poodle and Pooch Rescue after her owner died. Moochy is a young girl (by our standards) at 6 years old. On arrival she was having trouble urinating and her radiographs showed 3 large stones that taken over her whole bladder. The stones were removed and now Moochy feels like a new dog. Moochy will be on a special low protein diet forever to prevent the formation of new stones, but that's no sacrifice. The dogs love this food!

Solah

Solah

Solah was rescued from animal control months ago by a disreputable rescue group that abandoned Solah and her foster mom, providing no funds for veterinary care at all. They have since gone out of business. Solah's foster mom reached out to Poodle and Pooch Rescue for help, and she has come such a long way since being in Poodle and Pooch's care.

Roslin

Roslin

Roslin was rescued from animal control with a broken leg. Her leg was repaired with a plate and 8 screws. Roslin is now using the leg wonderfully. Her Xrays will be repeated soon to ensure the bone is healing as it should. If it is she will be allowed to run and jump like a normal dog!

Chelsea
Chelsea

Chelsea

Chelsea had double cherry eye, which was repaired. This condition worsens with age and eventually will cause dry eye which if untreated destroys the cornea. The photos above show her before and after the surgery.

Justine

Justine

Justine is one of the dogs PPR rescued from the Redlands in South Florida. She was found on the side of the road after being hit by a car and was also heartworm positive. Her heartworm will be treated and she will soon be looking for a forever home!

Copper

Copper

Copper is a beautiful boy that was surrendered because he had seizures. He had never received any veterinary care. The vet started him on a seizure medication and so far he hasn’t had any more seizures. Fingers crossed!

Tiny

Tiny

Tiny is a 3 lb senior chihuhua. PPR decided to make her a permanent resident with her foster family because she has a gallstone that may require surgery at any time. This type of surgery is difficult to perform on a small dog so they want to make sure their special needs vet performs the surgery if it does become necessary.

Lana

Lana

Lana arrived in sickening shape from animal control. She was not eating and was diagnosed with advanced pneumonia. She was started on IV fluids and antibiotics. She was in the hospital for 2 weeks recovering. Then she had to have surgery to remove breast tumors, fix her eyelids, remove growths on her feet, and spay of course!

Bonita

Bonita

Bonita is an 8 year old pup who was rescued from animal control. She had huge hernias and bladder stones. The hernias have been repaired and the bladder stones removed. She is still at the vet’s office recovering but will hopefully be ready for her forever home soon!

Chowder

Chowder

Chowder and five of his litter mates arrived to PPR in horrible shape. Chowder and his brother Cider were the sickest. They wouldn’t eat and had severe diarrhea. Their parvo test was negative so they were treated with fluids, medications, and tube feedings. After two days they made a remarkable recovery! They are eating on their own now and thriving!I

Elsa

Elsa

Elsa is a sweet Shih Tzu girl that animal control found as a stray. She had severe ear infections that had traveled down and destroyed the entire left side of her face. She needed IV antibiotics, fluids, pain medicine, and had to have the infection surgically cleaned out. She is improving on antibiotics but eventually will have to have both ear canals ablated.

Hammy

Hammy

Hammy was rescued from animal control after being hit by a car. His leg was crushed and he had demodectic mange. Xrays showed the leg could not be repaired and had to be amputated. The amputation was delayed by two weeks because he had a low platelet count on his bloodwork which spontaneously resolved. Now Hammy is feeling great and enjoying life with his foster family until he finds his forever home!. His mange is almost gone too!

Ashton
Ashton

Ashton

Ashton was rescued at only 5 weeks old after he was separated from his family and found alone. One of the ARNI volunteers fostered and bottle fed him until he was old enough to be put up for adoption. Unfortunately his leukemia test came back positive but the vet said he seemed very healthy otherwise and had a good chance at life. Ashton was at the shelter for a few weeks until a lovely couple came in looking for a kitty. They fell in love right away and decided he was the perfect match for them. Now he is living it up with his forever family!

Awesome

Awesome

Awesome is an 8 week old male Yorkie/Chihuahua mix ARNI rescued from a family that no longer wanted him. He was tiny, covered in fleas, and missing most of his fur. He was diagnosed with ringworm, so one of the ARNI volunteers brought him home to take special care of him. She has been spoiling him rotten ever since and he is more than likely staying with her. How could you not fall in love with that little face?

Carter & Mimi

Carter & Mimi

Carter & Mimi were rescued after being abandoned in a field out in Deland. They came to ARNI extremely terrified and with very bad skin issues. Mimi also had a little bit of an infection in one of her eyes, but that cleared up very quickly. They were treated for demodex mange and before long they looked like completely different pups! Mimi found her forever family and Carter is still waiting, but he has two other Chihuahua friends keeping him company.

Doug
Doug

Doug

Doug is a 4 month old Lab/Border Collie mix ARNI rescued from animal control in horrible condition. He was severely emaciated and had a long untreated case of demodex mange. The vet prescribed antibiotics and medicated baths to soothe his skin. He gained weight very quickly and got most of his hair back in no time. He was adopted by one of the ARNI volunteers and continued his treatment in a loving forever home!

Gerry
Gerry

Gerry

Gerry is a 1yr old male Beagle/Lab mix rescued from euthanasia at animal control. The ARNI staff noticed he was squinting and wouldn't really open one of his eyes, so they took him to the vet and found out the eye was gone! They couldn't determine whether he was born without it or not, but they cleaned it up and it was stitched closed during his neuter surgery. Gerry is now enjoying himself in his forever home where he is spoiled rotten and gets to go on all the car rides he wants!

Hemmi
Hemmi

Hemmi

Hemmi came to ARNI with a really bad flea allergy, but within a few weeks after seeing the vet, he was feeling much better and quickly found his forever home!

Karma
karma

Lily
Lily

Lily

Lily is a little Rat Terrier rescued from animal control. She was having issues walking, so ARNI rushed her to the vet and found out she had a fracture. They fitted her with a cast and she was quickly snatched up by one of the ARNI volunteers. She recovered well and is spoiled rotten.

Remi
Remi

Remi

Remi was adopted from ARNI previously, but was retured missing quite a bit of fur. The vet diagnosed him with flea allergies and a case of demodex mange. He was put on antibiotics and medicated baths. His hair grew back quickly and you could tell he was feeling a lot better. He found his forever home with 2 little girls and 3 other doggies that love him to pieces!

Ross & Family

Ross & Family

Ross's family was rescued from euthanasia at animal control. Once they got back to ARNI Ross had a seizure. He was rushed to the vet where they determined he was infested with internal parasites. He had to go under special care at the vet and then was fostered by one of the ARNI staff members. He and his family had to go through many series of dewormings before they were finally cleared of all parasites. Ross recovered very well and found his forever home as soon as he was well enough. (So did the rest of his family!)

Scooter
Scooter

Scooter

Scooter and his family were rescued from euthanasia at animal control after their owner surrendered them. The entire family of 8 had a bad case of demodex mange and poor mom tested positive for heartworms. The vet prescribed them medication and medicated baths to soothe the skin while they went through treatment. It took a long time, but finally they were all cleared and quickly found their forever families. Scooter is still waiting since he has hip dysplasia, but ARNI will find him the forever home he deserves.

sheeba

Sheeba

Sheeba was surrendered to animal control by her previous owner along with her 3 kittens. The kittens were pulled by another rescue, but Sheeba was left behind. ARNI made plans to rescue her, but in the mean time a 4 week old kitten came in without a mom, so animal control put him in with Sheeba. She took to him immediately, so ARNI rescued both of them. Unbelievably, 2 days after we rescued them, Sheeba gave birth to 4 more kittens!

Abby

Abby

Abby is the runt of Duchess's puppies. She started limping so ARNI took her to the vet for x-rays which showed she had fluid build-up in her knee. She also had a urine infection, respiratory infection, and Coccidia infection. She was sent to a foster home with multiple antibiotics and pain medicine. Soon after, she was running all around the house and playing like crazy with the other dogs. She is still in her foster home and on antibiotics for the next 4 weeks, then hopefully she will be at 100% and ready for a forever family! Until then, Abby is being spoiled rotten!

Tiana

Tiana

Tiana is another one of Duchess's puppies. She seemed to start losing fur in some areas and was also treated for Coccidia.

Daisy

Daisy

Daisy is a 2yr old female Bulldog who was tied up in the ARNI parking lot and left in very rough shape. She was missing fur all down her back and tail, had infected ears, and she was on the skinny side. She was also very timid, especially of men. She is still on antibiotics for her ears and skin, but other than that she is completely healthy! Yay for Crazy Daisy!

Dixie

Dixie

Dixie is a super sweet 1 1/2yr old female Rottweiler mix rescued from euthanasia at animal control when she was only 6 weeks old. She was adopted out as a baby, but returned to ARNI with no reason given :( She had a little bit of a skin problem and a slight limp, but after some pain meds and antibiotics, she was as good as new. Now she runs around and plays like crazy! She absolutely loves her tennis balls!

Luke

Luke

Luke was one of Carrie's 3 puppies who came down with demodex mange. After his skin scraping, all 3 puppies had to undergo treatment, but it wasn't long before all their fur grew back and they were happy, healthy, playful puppies! All 3 and momma have found their forever families!

Madeline, Gracie and Tucker

Madeline, Gracie and Tucker

Madeline, Gracie, and Tucker are just 3 of 13 puppies rescued from euthanasia at animal control. Sadly soon after rescue, these 3 babies came down with a terrible case of parvovirus. They had to stay overnight at the vet to be monitored and recieve extra special care. Thankfully all 3 puppies pulled through and found amazing forever families!

May

May

May was one of 13 puppies rescued from euthanasia at animal control. She was missing fur by her eye, so we took her to the vet for a skin scraping which determined she had demodex mange. A short course of antibiotics and a little ointment and she was a brand new pup! The sweet man who adopted her didn't care she was still missing a little hair around her eye and has another dog to be her buddy!

Mia (Maya)

Mia (Maya)

Mia (Maya) is a 2yr old female Lab/Shepherd mix rescued in February of 2014. She was adopted but came back to ARNI in August 2015 in rough shape due to a neglectful owner. She was missing so much fur and had a severe ear infection in both ears. It took a little bit of time to get her back to 100%, but she is all better now and has found her forever family!

Noah

Noah

Noah is a lovable 6 month old Golden Retriever/Chow mix who came down with a serious case of parvo just after ARNI rescued him. He was brought home by an employee of the business next door to ARNI to recieve special care and after he recovered, was adopted by the employee's parents!

Storm
Storm

Storm

Storm was rescued from animal control along with her 5 puppies who also had a bad case of demodex mange. They were put on medication and medicated baths to soothe their skin. Such a rambunctious and playful family. They just finished treatment and most of the puppies have already found their forever families!

Sugar
Sugar

Sugar

Sugar is a 1yr old Bull Terrier mix who came to ARNI with two big, infected gashes on her neck. The vet determined that she was attacked by another dog, cleaned the wounds, and prescribed antibiotics. Sugar has healed up very quickly and is just as happy as can be!

Sugar

Simon (Buster)

Simon(Buster) is a rambunctious kitten from a litter rescued from euthanasia at a high kill shelter. He was always jumping around, playing non-stop and wound up fracturing a bone in his back leg. He was taken extra special care of by the staff at Pet Street Veterinary Care Center and by the time they were done treating him, they just couldn't part with him, so he is now their official office kitty!

Carrie

Carrie

Carrie was a great mama to 3 precious puppies Luke, Jason, and Miranda, until they all found their forever families. After she went through her spay surgery, she developed a raw sore on her back end which had to be cleaned out so she had to wear a cone of shame for a little while. Soon after she found a loving forever home!
